I've had a really good year and it is ending as busy as it started...... There were some sad heartbreaking moments for people around me but I'm going to take this moment to focus on the crazy good stuff that happened to ME.

- I had non stop employment which hasn't been easy the past few years
- won the Port Moody wearable art show for the 2nd year
- worked on some amazing shows, tron legacy - HELLO, how cool is that?
- Steph finally popped a little mini me out, I loved being on the phone with her for the split second in the hospital when the contractions had started (Uh Andrew I think you need to get off the phone and go be with your wife)
- met some amazing new people TaMara, WOW designers and Ingrid, Michael Wilkinson (so talented and kind)
- had my first overseas flight and learned a valuable lesson about gravol
- took part in the World of Wearable Art Awards show
- had my name mentioned in TIME MAGAZINE
- minoupitou was mentioned in good housekeeping magazine
- celebrated my birthday and thanksgiving with a PROPOSAL!!! AND 12 hours of non stop puking. No they weren't related. I swear.
- Miranda and Peter also popped out a little mini me - I'm thinking Sydney and Tula need to meet up in 20 years as they have some of the coolest parents I know
- got me the prettiest engagement ring EVER and along with it the best guy in the world

I don't know how 2010 can top 2009. All I really want it is a little more sleep. Something tells me that isn't going to happen right away.

I'm going to apologize in advance for all the wedding related posts that will start to happen. Next weekend is the big wedding show in town and I'm in official planning mode from then on.....

Happy Holidays everyone!!!!!

From Christmas 2009

even though we are alone (moi, the dictator and two puppies) this Xmas it has been a pretty good day. We were up at the crack of dawn. Santa had been here so I had to get up of course!!!!
There was a wii fit under the tree for me. Who knew it was so much fun? We spent the next 5 hours playing it until we were both to tired and hungry to do anything but have a nap. I'm sure any good it did do today has been balanced out with the jujubes, potato chips and chocolate I have eaten in the meantime.
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon so we took the pups for a walk. Minou wore her new collar and Xmas sweater (made froma kids joe fresh sweater) super cute. I wore my new coat. Leopard print - YUMMY!
Now I could go to bed.... but I guess I shouldn't just yet - it is only 7 pm.......
Merry Xmas everyone - hope you all had an amazing day full of love....

From Christmas 2009

I got my hair did.

I had a hair accident last week trying to dye my own hair. BEEEG mistake... Had to get it fixed. I really like it. It looks a bit darker in the picture then it actually is but it is much darker then I am used too....

Two more sleeps until Xmas. My family isn't coming as planned as there is sick relatives in Saskatoon they must stay for. This makes me sad but I understand they need to be there. It will be quiet for me and the dictator. Tomorrow I have to finish the puppies presents!

From Little Red Riding Hood

my homework.
It was due yesterday.
This picture is from 1 hour before class yesterday. Needless to say I didn't finish it. My little four legged elves didn't help at all.
I'l keep working on it as it has bigger plans. But for now I need to tuck it away and design footloose... Not to mention I am working full time through out the holidays...
Eeps....
busy as usual. and I it time to start my WOW entries.

From Little Red Riding Hood

working on homework. It takes considerably longer then I thought. Oops - it is due next weekend. Not sure how I will manage this as my sister arrives tomorrow for 3 days and I'm starting a new job Thursday - I think... still waiting for the official word.
All and all aside from a little stress I'm good.
Survived my H1N1 shot. Can't wait to do some Xmas shopping with my sister this week...

From Xmas 2009

we got the tree today - in record time! It was FREEZING! It wasn't Super cold but there was a crazy ass wind. My eyes were watering and Minou was hating it something awful. Even Birdie didn't like it. We picked the tree as quick as we could, chopped it in record time - not watching and letting it land on Birdie. (She's fine.) And got out of there and to the nearest starbucks for hot chocolate.
It's home now and we have it decorated. It really wasn't a very good tree, dead and bald bits around the bottom and it is totally lopsided but hey - it fits in with our little family.
It is cold in the house too. Drinking tea wishing I had wood for the fireplace. Unfortunately my unemployment was short lived. I am back to work tomorrow - only a few days but this is seriously cutting into my gift sewing time!

Thursday, December 3, 2009

I'm finally unemployed.
YAY.
Except there is a little problem.
As I was packing up my sewing kit at work last night I got a little zealous about shoving things in and making them fit. There was an exacto blade - a fresh one of course I like 'em sharp - that was sticking straight up. Well I couldn't get my scissors to fit so I took my hand and gave them a good shove.
BIG MISTAKE
Take one sharp exacto blade against one delicate engagement ring finger, mix with someone who is not good with blood and well you have an event!
WOOHOO
there was blood everywhere. It wasn't a BIG cut but it was deep enough. It took a few band aids with blood pouring out both ends before we got it figured out. I almost passed out twice. It throbbed all night.
I still have it wrapped up from last night and am scared to change the band aid even though it probably needs it. No one is here to help me today.
From Xmas 2009

IT is really tender every time I move it or bump it. Typing is with mainly one hand today. I was looking forward to finishing a few sewing projects when I was done work but right now I don't think I can sew. Ugh. What a pain...
Hope it gets better quickly. I have lots of christmas presents to start....
sigh..

Can I just say again how cute my 'other' boyfriend Jon Hamm is?
He was in for a fitting again today. I'm the first person people see when they walk in the shop. Knowing he was coming today I wore my fat jeans that I'm getting to fat for, unmatched socks. an unflattering white t-shirt, and I didn't wash my hair. (I didn't know he was coming in - trust me) (I think I had cheezies on my face too) And he STILL looked at me - well ok, glanced briefly, but he didn't look scared or run away. Hey he's seen me! Couldn't pick me out of a crowd but I DON'T CARE.
We're in love.
HA HA HA...
My last day on the show is Wednesday - so I probably won't get to play my eye contact game with him anymore. Sigh... I'll try and be patient and wait for Season 4 of Mad Men...

From Wearable Art

Getting there. I think the skirt is mosty done - unless I add some lights... Top still has quite a few pins in it.
It looks a little less scary somehow this week. Maybe I'm just getting used to it. I still don't have much of an artist statement for it though. ANyone know any good poems/songs with lyrics about snow and maple leafs?

This one's for you mom.

#88 Regarding Fruitcake, three rules: don't buy it, don't eat it, don't gift it.
I was supposed to be finished this movie Nov 27th. I was really looking forward to it.
I need a break.

Yah I know I got to go to New Zealand for a week - but it wasn't exactly restful and put me really behind in every other area of my life.

I've been on shows since Jan last year - an unusually long stretch for me - with no breaks inbetween the four of them in fact some overlapped. I'm pooped. Those of you that know anything about film hours - they are long! 10 hour day is typically but 12 hour days are certainly common. I've had a rough time with some of the people I've worked with too - nothing like past horrors but still, I need a break.

But now I'm finding out it is going to be extended into Dec. Maybe only a day or two but I was counting down to next Friday and have been letting things pile up in anticipation of being able to take care of them soon enough.
Sigh

I need the money -it always sucks to be unemployed when all you want to do is go Xmas shopping - especially for your fiance. But I really want a nice long afternoon nap everyday and some puppy time - and some guilt free time to work on my wearable art and etsy shop!

I guess it will be soon enough.
I'm just worn out.

I'm ready to start the holidays......

P.S. I dropped my headphones in the toilet at work today. Post doing my business..... Pre flush......
How unfortunate.....

From wedding

Best wedding dress leopard print ever! Came across this swatch in the shop today. I emailed them. I don't even know what my dress is going to be but I know there is going to be leopard print somewhere.....
When am I getting married? Oh not this week? Not this month? Not this year? A billion years from now?
Hmmmmm
oh well....

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Think we may have finally picked a place... No hints yet - those of you that know - BE QUIET. I've actually started emailing wedding planners and hotels. Minou and Birdie have to be there and if they can't come I have to change locations.
We probably won't have the money together until 2011, (2010 is looking like a scary year for work) but I would like to make some plans so I know what kind of budget I need to get together.... Just see how bad the damage is going to be......
Wish I could start planning it for real and go next year. I am so excited.
Is it wrong to put an entire wedding on a credit card?

Sunday, November 15, 2009

i have done nothing today.
Oh man.
Nothing at all....
pathetic....
it is 8pm and I a still in my pjs from this morning...

Sunday, November 8, 2009

Forgot to mention... Me and Don Draper - BEST FRIENDS! Ok well no. But I can pretend. He was in for a fitting on Friday for the movie I am working on. Guess what - he is just as cute in person! Or as Slavica said (who took his measurements) even CUTER. HAHAHAAA!!!
Savino shook his hand and then rubbed it all over my face so I could have the true experience. Nice. (Note the sarcasm)
That's all. I saw him.
In person.

(I saw Zac Efron last week too but I thought he was someone's bratty kid - he was so short!)

From Wearable Art

It's that time of year again.... actually it has been for sometime. But I have just a little over a month to get my entry in so I better start... Went collecting leaves last weekend and other paints and crap that might inspire. I think I finally know where it is going and have a name for it but who knows what will happen. Much can change in a month.

No progress on the wedding plans. We need to pick a place. Had a brilliant idea this week - even emailed the location about it. But haven't heard back and can only imagine it is WAY out of my price range. But since the email we have come up with idea #2. I think when I am done work we might be able to actually make some plans. This last idea is the best so far. heh heh...

OK ok - found the pictures that mysteriously weren't on my camera last week - don't know what happened although there was a computer crash while I was uploading them to the computer.....
Here is a better shot of Minou's cave doggy costume
From halloween 2009
I have to share this one because I got this awesome sweater/hoodie at Lucky jeans a few weeks ago.
From halloween 2009

I paid too much for it but how could I resist? Minou made me do it - she was with me. I know you can't see all of it - I don't have any other pictures of it and I can't find it on their website. BUT LOOK AT THAT SKULL ON THE SLEEVE!!!!

From Type 2 stuff

this is my homework for my Type class. It takes forever. Eventually the photograph in the background will be gone... But i have much copying and pasting to do before then.... It is excruciating...
2 weeks until it is due... I think I will be spending every evening on it...
From halloween 2009

Did get any good pictures of Minou during our walk this afternoon...... You can see our little dinosaur and cave doggy in this picture.... so scary!

Friday, October 30, 2009

been having fun with a new itouch app.
From halloween 2009

except it crashes way too much......

We dressed up at work today - I dressed as my 'tablemate' Catherine. It was pretty funny. Just happened to wear the exact same colors as her (I swear this was a fluke and I don't have a webcam set up in her bedroom), curled my hair as best I could (she has naturally curly hair) and wore my reading glasses.... Really I looked nothing like her - most people didn't even understand I was dressed up but when they figured it out we laughed our asses off for hours... There were some funny photos taken - if I ever get a copy I'll post them...... Work was good today. Much giggling... Halloween should happen more then once a year. It is amazing how many laughs a person can get from a cheap wig and a goofy hat.

In all the excitement this weekend (proposal, puking, birthday) I forgot to mention this little guy.
From Thanksgiving 2009

My new furry nephew Dorian!!!!!!! He is sooo adorable... Just wanted to play with everyone, drink my gingerale, hang out with his big sister.... what a cutie. Sadly I didn't get many shots before the puking started. (I hate to keep bringing that up but it really spoiled my weekend)
He was still small now but the next time I see him he won't be... Sigh....

We finally felt well enough to get up off the couch and more then four feet away from a bathroom. So we went to the mall. I didn't know where to start looking at rings and it is a wednesday night so why not the mall.
I didn't know in less then 2 hours and 3 stores I'd see the exact ring I wanted, within the dictator's budget and a canadian diamond.
But I did. I started crying. Such a loser.
We walked away from it initially.
But then we went back. I could tell the dictator wanted to get that one. And after going into two other stores I didn't like anything else anymore. What's the point of shopping around?
So we bought it.
It is being sized so alas no good pictures yet - that is just the tiny picture of it from the certificate. I love it and can't wait to show off my new bling.....
I think I'm gonna go cry again.

From New Zealand 2009

From New Zealand 2009

I am in time magazine - no photos - they can't publish photos until the show opens - but the only designer mentioned in the article is me! Crazy eh!

So excited, I can't believe it.
Just had my tv interview - I sucked. But that is ok. I'm in Time Magazine....

Show is tonight. EEPS!!!!!!!!
From New Zealand 2009

It's thursday night.
I'm soooo tired....
Today was international designers day. It started with a backstage tour and we all got to see photos of each others dresses. INSANE! It made me really nervous all of a sudden. There are some beautiful dresses. Everyone was so nice. And there are some super amazingly talented people. Can't wait to bring back photos/books/stories... The WOW staff are all so nice and sweet too.One lady remined me of my highschool clothing and textiles teacher - I told her that and said I wanted to hug her so she gave me a big hug! I LOVE HER! Met another Canadian - she actually lives in Hawaii though so she got labelled and an American. There is another Canadian girl to but I think she just lives in Canada and isn't actually Canadian. Not that it matters.
We went to the WETA cave next. I guess it helps to have watched lord of the rings. I wasn't nearly as impressed as everyone else - it was a little like being at work. I was so tired by then too. Sorry. I'm not a lord of the rings fan geek... Sigh....
After that was cocktails with the mayor. How decadent.
And now I am at the hotel - it's 7:30 and I think I will have a hot bath and crawl into bed. it is so cold today. There was a threat of snow. I didn't think I needed a winter coat. I was wrong, I think tomorrow I might need to buy some tights to wear with my outfit.

The stage is crazy huge - it is so big. I can't believe it. I got so nervous. We stood on the stage. We have great seats for the show tomorrow. I am so excited....
Picked up the program today. Can't wait to see all the dresses live tomorrow....

Ok I am freezing and the internet cord doesjn't read the bed so I need to un plug and crawl under the covers..

UGH..'
So cold...

Here in New Zealand. It is Wednesday morning. Waiting for this city to get moving.
T and I were exhausted yesterday. I won't go into flight details but let's just say my stomach contents didn't make it across the pacific ocean. We went straight to the spa and had an AMAZING treatment at Bodyhaven. LOVED it. SO NICE. Just what we needed to get the yucky plane ick off of us. After the spa we stopped at the starbucks and came straight back to the hotel where we were able to check in early.
We didn't get up to much yesterday, a little wandering. Discovered food is REALLY EXPENSIVE. Cheapest restaurant we found was averaging $20 a dish - T got a spinach salad for $!!!! EEKS. After that we decided it was time to get some groceries to keep the cost down. That was still expensive, bagels, cream cheese, small orange juice, can of coke, and a can of pringles - $24!!!!!!! (yes I needed the pringles - they are in the mini bar teasing me for $5 a small can)
After all that we were in bed and asleep by 7:30pm. I slept solid through until 4:30 this morning. Then we got up and ate leftover pizza in bed! Awesome. I peeked out the window a few times during the early morning and well - I can't see any hookers or homeless people? What is up with the lack of hookers and homeless people? Could New Zealand really be that perfect? Didn't see anyone begging for change... WEIRD!
We've been watching the morning news this morning. It's funny - they are all pretty goofy - not all serious. Only understand half of what they are saying.
Exit signs at the airport say "WAY OUT" instead of exit. I think that is funny.
uhmmmm
Can't think of aanything else to say now. We are off to the Te Papa museum this morning. I should probably have some breakfast and not just that 4:30am pizza.

Sunday, September 20, 2009

At the airport. Waiting.......
And waiting...

Doing typography homework with really small typing isn't a great idea. In fact it is a bad idea. I should get my reading glasses out.....
Oh well.. I'll procrastinate instead. I'm good at that.
Lots of people with accents sitting around me.... hee hee.. I hope I can understand them when I get there. I listened online to a comedy act performing at the show - couldn't understand a word they were saying. And I can't pronounce ANYTHING in the guide book. Some of the names of people who emailed me I can't tell if the are male or female.....

I have a middle seat. The check in lady said she would put a star next to my name to try and move me - but it looks like the plane is full. THAT SUCKS. We've booked a spa treatment at the other end so if I horrible flight at least I have something to look forward too.

TaMara and I will be hooking up in the Auckland airport - we have the same flight to Wellington. YIPPEE!!! We can be stinky together.

Almost time to have my last pee on the ground - I know you all needed to hear that. I just thought I would share. I like sharing....
WOW. Can you tell I am bored.

Oh the lady who said she would try and move me is at the gate now. I wonder if I should clean up and go check in with her....

ok..
Finish off my latte and we should be boarding soon...
I'm leaving today. SUPER NERVOUS!!!!!!!!!!

Last load of laundry is in the dryer.

Not sure what to all do to keep me occupied until I leave for the airport at 4:30. Spend quality outdoor time with the puppies is probably a must. I would still like to head out to the mall for a quick looky loo for a nice coat. Unfortunately it is the wrong season for something that isn't wool.

Got a book to read, season 2 of flight of the conchords, an extra battery, NZ travel book, I should manage to keep myself busy. Just waiting to hear back from TaMara on whether we want to book the jelag package at the spa Tuesday morning when we arrive. It sounds so NICE!!!!!!!!!

The tv station emailed - I have a 20 minute interview on Friday afternoon. They are doing some kind of tv documentary this year. They said it might air internationally - well I HOPE IT DOESN'T! EEPS.

Not much else to report. I'm off! As my good friend Cara used to say in highschool "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Saturday, September 19, 2009

This documentary aired on CBC awhile back. I missed it from the beginning so I finally googled it.
It is pretty disturbing look a purebred dogs. I've said many times since getting Minou and Birdie that my next dog will be a rescue. This reinforces it....

From Misc. Stuff

EEEE!!!!! I need to bring more clothes and shoes.... and lose 50lbs in a week which means none of my clothes will fit me anyways.
I break the law.

When I think about it I do it all the time.
I drive faster then 50km in the city. Not alot but enough that it isn't 50km anymore. But I always wear my seatbelt.
We have an extra cable box that we aren't paying for.
I download free music and programs.
I jaywalk.
(It isn't a law yet but) I do talk on my cellphone while driving.
I'm sure there is numerous other things I do.... Today though I was yelled at for 'breaking the law' and it makes me angry.

We were walking with Minou and Birdie along the dirt path between our house and Rocky Point Park. We do this every weekend - sometimes more then once. It is a beautiful trail that runs along the water. It is NOT an off leash area. And (GASP) we walk them off leash everytime - unless there is a bear sighting. We often pass lots of other people walking there dogs - I'd say every other dog is off leash, big ones and small ones. It is not a bike path so I don't worry about that. Some days there are lots of people running - I try and grab the girls and make sure we are out of the way of the runners. The girls aren't the best listeners but I do my best to make sure they listen to me when I call them. Many people walking use those extendible leashes - I find those worse because you can't even see the leash and the dogs will stretch it across the path. Those of you that have been walking with us know that Birdie usually walks right behind us - we call her the shadow and Minou runs slightly ahead sniffing things along the path - so it isn't like they are out of control chasing after wildlife, trampling plants, biting passerbys, running after children, etc... Really if they wanted to I think the best they could do is hurt a fly.. They would be hardpressed to destroy a plant, and will never catch a bird or a squirrel. Not to mention no matter whether they are off leash or not I always pick up their poo. Can't say the same for other dog people and to me that is the worst offence.
Anyways....
So we are walking home along the path. Enjoying our afternoon. It is on the way home so the girls are already pretty tired and not venturing very far. Up ahead I can see a woman and her husband sitting on a bench. The bench faces away from the path towards the water but she is turned around and looking at us. She looks like she wants to talk to us so I make eye contact with her. We are over 20 ft away when this starts.... As we approach she says " aren't your dogs supposed to be on leashes?"
I'm sort of coaught off guard by her question so I don't say anything. She asks again. "Is this an off leash area? Aren't your dogs supposed to be on leashes?" or something like that. I say yes - because they are supposed to be on leashes. I know that but I don't really care. Then she starts yelling. I don't even remember half the stuff she was yelling. Things like I don't respect other people, (my favorite was) What makes me think I'm so special. I manage to get out a "Are they bothering you?" to which she screams 'YES" She just kept yelling the whole time. I think even her husband shouted out a few things. Minou and Birdie did venture over to say hi to her - but I think that is partially because they thought we knew them as we were 'talking' to them. We were a good 20 ft away in the other direction (we kept walking the whole time) and she was STILL YELLING AT US. And when I say yelling I mean yelling she was not using an outside voice, she was not projecting, she was yelling.

It was a BEAUTIFUL afternoon. She should have been sitting facing the water enjoying the beautiful day. But no she has to sit there and scream at people. She was probably very busy as we passed several people headed her way with their dogs off leash. (Including a pitbull - heh heh) What kind of angry person/dog hater/who knows what goes to a park to yell at people about insignificant bylaws on a beautiful sunny sunday afternoon.
I wasn't smoking and blowing it in her direction, I wasn't playing loud music, our dogs didn't trip her. If she had been facing the other way she wouldn't have even seen them.
On the way home I passed 13 year old kids on the picnic table behind city hall splitting up their 'stash' if you know what I mean, I also saw cars speeding, and there may have been a jaywalker. I think next weekend I will sit there and yell at people about breaking rules that really aren't affecting me.
Ugh.
She put me in a foul mood. I hope she is happy. (I just took a strip off the dictator for bugging me. Oops. But I'm not in the mood right now) And I hope I see her again with my dogs off leash. Over and over again. In the 2.5 years we have lived here walking EVERY WEEKEND only 2 people have ever made a comment to us. Normally people stop and say hi to Minou and say how cute she is.
I apologize to those of you in the world who are afraid of dogs but here is a bit of advice. If you say to me "I'm afraid of dogs can you please put them on a leash?" I immediately say I am sorry and grab them and put them on a leash. It has happened before and I will happily do it. It makes me sad that something has happened to someone to make them afraid of a chihuahua like Minou but I guess it can happen....
But if you are just playing bylaw officer leave me alone and find someone else to harrass. Or write me a ticket. I'll gladly pay $50 or whatever the fine is - my girls like to be off leash. We don't have a yard, and they are scared of the other dogs in the off leash parks (you try putting a chihuahua in with a pen of german sheperds, pitbulls, and golden retrievers) Not to mention the nearest off leash park isa 10minute drive/20 minute walk.

I don't understand these people. I don't understand why they are so horrible to strangers and what makes them think it is their job to enforce rules that don't really matter in the big picture. Why not go downtown and feed homeless people if you feel the need to make the world a better place.

I'm going to stop now. I just needed to vent. If anyone can explain to me what is wrong with the angry park lady I would be happy to try and understand her. But if she is just a bitter woman I'm afraid that isn't good enough....

Ok.
I'm going back up to my sewing room now....

From What should I wear?

heh heh....
apparently these are from Murray's office on Flight of the Conchords. I'm saving season 2 for my flight. It is killing me not to watch it...
Converation that may or may not have taken place last night.
Names have been changed to project the mentally challenged/hard of hearing...

Jacques "Julia and Carlos bought Minou headphones"
Andrea "What?"
Jacques "Julia and Carlos bought Minou headphones"
Andrea "What?!?!"
Jacques "Julia and Carlos bought Minou headphones"
Andrea said puzzled and confused as in where or why would one buy dog headphones "What?"
Jacques said very slowly "JULIA AND CARLOS BOUGHT ME NEW HEADPHONES"
Andrea sheepishly "Oh. That was nice."

From What should I wear?

Ok people... is this better..
walked a very busy mall this afternoon. Was sad to see not a single store had a 'armpit fat covers' section. NOT ONE! But I found this little cardigan in the sale section at jacob. It could be a fake shrug thing non? I can wear it over too but if I do up the buttons it totally covers up the bustier... which with some of the stitching I did isn't necessarily a bad thing....

I also went to the mac counter....
From What should I wear?

I've never worn red lipstick. EVER. But I think I might be able to pull this off!!! Need red lipstick. The lashes are a little long and I need some practice with the liner but hey - I have 2 weeks.

Woohooo!!

Bought my outlet adapters.... OH didn't get a travel pillow. I've heard they are REALLY nice to have. SO I think I may go upstairs and make one... yup.... can't be that hard...

what else???? oh make another skirt today too - but I am wearing it already so no pics.... I think I already ripped a stitch in it too.... I take to big of steps....

ok ok ok
that's all

Shrug does NOT work on me. NOT AT ALL.... grrrrrrr.. armpit fat explodes... so sad....
not sure what to do.....

back to the mall tomorrow I guess.....

grrrrrr

and fabric store........
From What should I wear?

if you click on the picture it takes you to my picasa album with all the different options.......
Ok...

a) Bustier pretty much done. I have a bit of tweaking to do but good enough.... (P.S. it isn't perfect and I am kind of ok with that)

b) Skirt not done. Waiting for the Dictator to come home and help me fit it. Because the bustier squishes me in I can't fit it without putting on the bustier and because I can't dress myself I have to wait for the golf game to be over.....

c) Can't decide on t-shirt or black shrug. I like the t-shirt but it does make it more casual. BUT I KNOW there is armpit fat to deal with and I don't think the shrug will cover the armpit fat.... TOO MANY DECISIONS.. Maybe it is the color of the t-shirt???

d) jewelry. Also can't decide.... I was trying to wear all canadian. But it kind of has been thrown out the window. But the black bird and the red bird skull were both made by canadians. I like the skull but I don't think it is right for the outfit, And I really like the tattoos but again maybe to casual.... The sparkle is good too. Maybe I need more sparkle......

e) I like my blue clutch with the black shrug but I think it is too much with the red t-shirt. So if I go with a red top I need another clutch. Thank goodness H&M is close by and cheap.....

f) shoes done of course!!!!

Now I have more sewing to do for the cocktail function and some more canning to do as a friend gave me a flat of plums this week and they are sitting in the fridge waiting..... So much to do and it is already Sunday afternoon. (I had to work yesterday)

14 more sleeps!!!!!!

From minou pitou

getting there.. it has issues but hey - It'll do.... Just have the top and bottom to finish off and maybe a few more bones.... Cups aren't perfect but gosh they are hard. I think I've done pretty well considering...
Next the skirt....
But first more canning....
we got a flat of local strawberries today - oh they are good!!!! ANd a box of tomatos to try and do sauce....
If it works we'll do more... The dictator is right into it with me - he is in charge of the jars.....

trying to make a wool bustier/corset like top to wear to the show in NZ. BUT IT ISN"T WORKING.
A) I can't fit it on myself
B) cups are really hard to shape - think madonna pointy gauliter boobs and you will be close
C) it has been 30 again here making my sewing room on the 4th floor REALLY HOT. Especially with the iron on. After a long day at work sewing I don't want to stand in a hot room and sew something that isn't working.......

ARGH!!!!!!!!

Angie is supposed to pop by - I am hoping she can help me fit it. But I am a little worried it is more then a fitting I need - more like a reconstruction of the entire pattern..........
I really want to start it this weekend so I hope I can figure it out.

I have the skirt pattern.

I need a shrug next - and NO I am not knitting it. No time. sew sew sew.....

From Julien

still trying to cope with the loss of Julien. My sister is very upset. We lost him in a very tragic accident. I'm hoping to go to Castlegar on the weekend just to be with her. Wish I could go sooner but work would never forgive me for taking more time off - not to mention my bank account.....
At least I can go for one day....

In the meantime I have been given the Dictator's blessing to go to NZ. I owe it to our kayaking guide on our holidays. There we were out in the ocean paddling away. Just the three of us. Heather - the guide - starts to tell us about how amazing our ocean is, and then just happens to compare it to New Zealand - completely out of the blue!!!!!! I mention I want to go and why. She proceeds to try and help me convince the the Dictator. Well apparently it worked. I owe that girl a bottle of wine.

So now I'm trying to find out if the flight is still available, where to stay for the extra night, if I can still get a ticket to the show, get the ok for the time off work... etc etc etc. The jet lag is going to kill me for such a short trip but I don't have a choice. It can't be much worse then working on set in film. Mondays you are starting at 7:00am, Fridays you are starting at 7:00pm...

I sent a bunch of emails tonight. We'll see what I find out tomorrow...

My etsy shop is thriving as well thanks to the gift guide thing - crazy! Only one sale out of it so far but lots of requests and people adding me as a favourite (it's doubled from 80 to 200 in 24 hours) I've decided to give half of my proceeds over the next month to the Nelson SPCA in Julien's name..... Hope I can raise some money......

ok time to go veg in front of the tv and check in on my sister..............

I am blogging on my iPod.
It is hot. To hot to go upstairs. Hot.
36 degrees celcius or 96 f
ugh.

Got off work at 9:00am today because some joker ran into a power pole. Completely knocked the power out in our building and almost knocked a pole over. We are wondering if we will actually have power back tomorrow. Not good since we have fittings Thursday and Friday. Eeps.

But it doesn't matter to much because we are leaving to go camping early Thursday morning. Yay!!!! Can't wait. Going to the island on the west coast close to ucluelet. Yippee!! We even found a sea kayaking place that have a kennel Minou and Birdie can stay in for the afternoon. If it stays this hot which it is supposed to I think we will just be lying on the beach everyday.

So hot. Hot.

Oh oh I forgot to say - my dress made it through the next round of judging - it is going to the big fashion show. The awards night is Sept 25th so now we have a long wait ahead of us where I start thinking I should go to the show... How often does one get to do this????
I posted on the designer forums asking if there was any local designers that would have a couch I could crash on - at least then I wouldn't have to worry about hotels and if they were nuts I could always go to a hotel.
I did a ticket search online - about $2000 return. Alot - but just low enough that it isn't out of the question..... I'd have to get the time off work - probably at least a week with the time change - they are a day ahead of us...
I wish someone could come with me and talk me into going.... it would be awesome to go with a friend....

In the meantime I am SICK. I have what we are calling the T2N1 virus - aka the Tron 2 virus. Everyone was getting sick, it was my last day friday. I stayed home because I felt so horrible. It's just a cold but I am starting suckerpunch on Monday and would LOVE to feel rested for suckerpunch.

The dictator and I booked a campsite for August long weekend mussel beach we've been there before and quite like it.... our first camping trip of the summer - which is quite pathetic but it wasn't possible any sooner with the hours I was working on Tron.... Hopefully it will be nice and relaxing - just laze around all day and soak up the sun.......

Big race tonight.
BIG.
Bigger then that Jamaican guy at the olympics.

The Dictator is racing Minou and Birdie at the soccer field down the street.

He thinks he can beat them.

I don't think he can.

There was an impromptu race last week during which the Dictator had his ass kicked, Apparently there was several reasons for this. Wrong shoes, no warm up, wearing jeans, to soon after supper, etc etc. Well today he announced his intentions for this evening so there is no excuse. There will be a race no excuses for the losers. (well except Birdie who sometimes goes the wrong way.)

Video to follow the race..... Hopefully ice cream too!

Mrs. Happy posted this video on flickr - thought I would share it..... I wish I was sleeping as soundly as that little guy..
So tired. Worked until 6:00am last night. Was pretty useless for the last 3 hours.... Drove home in the bright sunshine..... Slept until noon but not a good sleep. Minou wanted me to get up. She had to poo. Heaven forbid she ask her Daddy to take her out since he was wide awake watching tv... Brat...
Anyways - we went for a long walk and now I think it is time to go back to bed...
I have no cute crafts or nothing to share - way to pooped from work. Only a few more days left! I think 2 weeks and then I'll be unemployed again.... Sigh.... I've had a few 'maybe' offers this past week so hopefully one of them will turn into something...

Sunday, June 21, 2009

So I'm pretty tired today. I had to work yesterday (saturday) and it has been a long week. Today it was hard ot stay awake but I was excited to go to ikea and buy the patio furniture I wanted. We got up early ish to go and guess what - it was SOLD OUT! NOOOOOO!!!!!
I could have done a bit more research though but I last time I waited for a piece of furniture to come in it took 5 weeks of waiting. Something told me the seasonal furniture wouldn't be replaced that easily either. Best just to move on - I hadn't been 100% about it anyways.
We found another set that was resonably priced at Home Depot. Not as comfy looking but it had all the elements and was small enough for our yard. Of course by the time we got home with it, it was pouring rain. LIKE DUMPING! I set it up anyways and it dried up but it wasn't a nice warm evening to sit outside.
There is still some cleaning up to do but basically our yard is done. The dictator has plans for the fence but I think he is going to take a bit of a break first........
Can't wait for a nice warm summer evening to sit outside.

Oh the Dictator bought a new BBQ too - he named it after Sydney since they have the same birthday.... It's under that ugly cover - we'll have to get a new one...
